Travelling Fellowships for Consultants & SAS doctors
The Society of Anaesthetists of Wales is offering two Travelling Fellowships for either Consultant Anaesthetists or SAS doctors, to teach on the 4 year MMedAnaes in Namibia which is launching in February 2018.
This is in support of the Phoenix Project, a research and education initiative between Cardiff University and the University of Namibia. A bursary is offered to cover travel and accommodation for a visit of a minimum of 2 weeks (preference will be given to those able to commit to a 3 week visit). Phoenix Project does not buy time out so either study leave, Africa leave, professional leave or holiday must be used to do this (subject to internal agreements with relevant line-managers). The Fellows will work closely with local Anaesthetists (though there are very few working in Public Service in Namibia) and be supported by Professor Judith Hall and Dr Brian Jenkins and Associate Professor Amby Rukewe in Namibia.
In addition to supporting Anaesthetic Education, I am looking for Fellows interested in sharing teaching skills and in simulated education.
The project is well set up, subject to a Memorandum of Understanding between the main parties and has experienced project management support in both Namibia and Wales. Pre-depature training will be given and successful candidates will be supported throughout their visit. The Fellow will be based in the capital city Windhoek. Namibia is a beautiful country and weekends will be free.
Please contact myself Professor Judith Hall and Dr Brian Jenkins via firstname.lastname@example.org (copying in my manager Nicola Pulman email@example.com) with a CV (no more than 4 pages) and a 300 word explanation of why you would like to take up this opportunity, detailing any relevant experience in the area. Deadline for applications is 5 pm Monday 18th December 2018. Both Fellowships must be taken in the first 6 months of 2018 ending 30th June 2018.
Very best wishes,
